Business Internationalization and Globalization

At global level trends such as increased liberalization of trade, intensification of and changes in regional economic integration, technological developments in information and transportation infrastructure, increasing international migration are factors that contribute to the globalization of the business environment. In this context, new opportunities and new forms of international cooperation are developed. International relations between nations and international relations between corporations unfold new developments in the present changing environment. International business strategies for companies operating in different fields are influenced by the new evolutions in the global, regional and local environments. Academics, business practitioners, research students and people working in public administration and non-governmental sector are invited to submit papers on the topic International Perspectives on Future Developments.

The main topics covered by the hereby call for papers are related, but not limited to:

  • Business strategies in foreign markets,

  • International versus global approaches,

  • Internationalization of services,

  • New trends in regional economic integration,

  • The future of European Union

  • The development of international markets,

  • Factors, challenges and obstacles for internationalization,

  • Country level internationalization policies,

  • Strategic thinking in the international context,

  • Challenges of the new international environment for business,

  • Policies and practices in the new international circumstances.

Luminita Nicolescu
is a professor at Faculty of International Business and Economics from Bucharest University of Economic Studies, Romania. She obtained her PhD at Canterbury Business School, University of Kent, United Kingdom and an MBA in Higher Education at Institute of Education, University of London, United Kingdom. Her research interests include: marketing and international marketing related topics, higher education management and reforms and management of small and medium sized enterprises, public policies and governance. She is the author and co-author of around 50 books, books’ chapters and books’ contributions and she published over 90 papers in national and international journals, including top ranked journals. She also played the role of reviewer for numerous international journals, including the role of Associate editor for the Kybernetes journal. She is highly interested in the research activity, as she participated in over 30 research projects either as project director or as project member. She also researched public policy topics nationally (higher education policies) and internationally (higher education policies with CHEPS, Netherlands and CEPES-UNESCO; social dialogue building with European Foundation for the Improvement of Living and Working Conditions, Ireland).

Alina Irina Popescu
is a tenured Full Professor of International Business in the Department of International Business and Economics at the Bucharest University of Economic Studies, Romania, and former Associate Professor of International Management and Strategy at Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam, The Netherlands. She holds a Ph.D. in International Business, and her research explores innovation, sustainability, competitiveness, entrepreneurship, and regional development through a resilience-based approach. Author of several books and numerous journal articles, she has led multiple EU-funded research projects and is actively involved in leading international academic associations in regional science, labor studies, and international business.
