Mini Track Chair:
The rapid maturation of blockchain and distributed ledger technologies is reshaping how value is created, recorded and exchanged, with tokenization, crypto-assets, smart contracts and decentralized finance moving from experimental niches into mainstream business, financial and public sector processes. These technologies promise greater transparency, efficiency and disintermediation, yet they also raise new risks for organizations, investors and public authorities: market volatility, fraud and illicit finance, tax evasion, consumer protection gaps, and governance structures that often escape traditional mechanisms of accountability. At the same time, the regulatory landscape is changing fast. Frameworks such as the EU’s Markets in Crypto-Assets Regulation (MiCA) and the new tax transparency rules for crypto-asset service providers (DAC8) are redefining the conditions under which blockchain-based business models can operate. The central objective of this mini-track is to offer a managerial, economic and regulatory perspective on how businesses, financial institutions and public authorities can harness the potential of blockchain while ensuring trust, compliance and responsible innovation. It welcomes contributions addressing blockchain-enabled business models, the tokenization of real-world assets, digital finance and DeFi, central bank digital currencies, the taxation and auditing of crypto-assets, regulatory supervision and compliance, and the broader implications of distributed ledger technologies for corporate governance, financial reporting and public administration.
