The Metaverse, which is proposing an online virtual world, is the next level in digitalization. We are currently witnessing major transformations in industry, business, learning & education, healthcare, governance, leisure and entertainment with the advent and development of several technologies, such as: artificial intelligence, immersive technology (virtual reality, augmented reality), 3D virtual environments, IoT, big data analytics, 5G, machine learning, blockchain, cloud and edge computing, robotics, just to name a few.

Therefore, businesses and economies need to adapt their strategies to remain competitive in a fast-changing world. Great transformations have taken place in the creative and cultural industries. Thus, the gaming and software industries have grown, but traditionally offline areas, such as libraries, galleries, archives and museums, have gone digital, too.

Businesses have partially or totally moved in the online environment, and this process has been accelerated by the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic. They now have to explore and benefit from the opportunities provided by the online environment. Finance and banking companies have also started to develop their online presence, whereas crowdfunding and cryptocurrencies have also gained ground as alternatives to the status-quo. Manufacturing has started to transition towards Industry 4.0, too, by including: IIoT, robotics, 3D printing, AI, cloud computing, and big data in their processes.

Mina Fanea-Ivanovici is an Associate Professor within the Department of Economics and Economic Policies at the Bucharest University of Economic Studies, Romania. She has a PhD in Economics and a Master’s Degree in Finance and Management Control from the University of Orléans. Mina has 15 years’ experience in teaching and research, and has authored academic textbooks, articles, conference papers, books and book chapters in the field of Economics. Her main research interests revolve around crowdfunding, cultural & creative industries, health economics, digital literacy and digitalization. At the same time, she is a reviewer of several prominent WoS-indexed journals and has recently become a doctoral supervisor. In 2016 she worked as an independent expert for the Ministry of Culture and was a member of the team in charge of revising Romania’s Strategy for Culture and National Heritage.

Małgorzata Siemionek-Ruskań holds a PhD in the field of Management  from the University of Gdańsk in Poland. Since 2017 she has been working as an associate Professor at The Faculty of Management in the Department of Banking and Finance at the University of Gdańsk. She teaches in English subjects such as: finance, public finance, risk management, modern Behavioral Finance. She is an author of more than 20 research papers published in Polish and foreign academic journals, journals indexed in international databases and volumes of international and national scientific events. Her scientific research focuses on strategy management, financial management in city, public finance, controlling and crowdfunding. She has taken part in international conferences and teaching programmes such as Erasmus Teaching Staff Mobility in Germany and Spain. In May 2010 she took part in Rotary’s Foundations Group Study Exchange Programme in Florida in the USA as a part of four young professionals representing Poland

Liana Badea received her PhD degree in Economics from Bucharest University of Economic Studies, where she is a Professor and a PhD supervisor. She is currently holding the position of Vice-president of the Senate of Bucharest University of Economic Studies and also the one of Head of the Department of Economic Doctrines and Communication. She teaches Economic Doctrines, Schools of Economic Thought and Competition and Market Functionality at Faculty of Theoretical and Applied Economics. Her areas of interest include: cryptocurrencies, education for sustainable development, market competition and schools of economic thought. Liana Badea is a member of the Regional Science Association International (RSAI) and European Regional Science Association (ERSA). She is author or co-author of more than 40 research papers published in Romanian and foreign academic journals. Her interest in the publishing activity is obvious as she is also a Senior Editorial Assistant of the journal titled Theoretical and Applied Economics, reviewer of prestigious international journals, and a member of the editorial board or of the organizing committee of many international conferences.

Publication Opportunities:

The conference is organized by Society for Business Excellence and UNESCO Department for Business Administration on the 24-24 of March 2022 at The Bucharest University of Economic Studies, Faculty of Business Administration in Foreign Languages (FABIZ) in partnership with the Romanian Academy, the University of Bucharest and the Sapienza University from Rome, Italy. The papers accepted at ICBE 2022 will be published in the conference proceedings, subject to author registration, payment and presentation. The papers will be published in the Conference Proceedings volume under the German Publishing House De Gruyter and they will be indexed in EBSCO, Proquest, ExLibris, OCLC, Google Scholar, Microsoft Academic, CELDES, CNPIE, Naviga, and will be submitted to Thomson Reuters ISI Web of Science (WOS) Conference Proceedings Citation Index (https://content.sciendo.com/view/journals/picbe/picbe-overview.xml

In addition, the best three Papers (Best paper Award Management&Marketing) will be published in the international journal Management & Marketing. Challenges for the Knowledge Society by De Gruyter Open, indexed in Web of Science- Emerging Sources Citation Index (ESCI), Scopus, Proquest, Cabell’s Directory and more than 20 other international databases (www.degruyter.com/view/j/mmcks).

At the final ceremony, based on a selection of the international committee, there will be granted three Best Paper Awards Management&Marketing (https://content.sciendo.com/view/journals/mmcks/mmcks-overview.xml, indexed in Web of Science) and two Excellence Awards.
