This track is dedicated to scholars, practitioners, professionals and students who want to share their knowledge and experience about the growing global sports industry. Although the global sports industry declined about 15% in 2020 due to the Covid-19 slowdowns, it is still evaluated at nearly $400bn, being expected to reach $500bn by 2025. We invite participants to submit their works on relevant and current sports management, sports business or sports marketing topics, in national or international cases.

Vlad I. Roșca, PhD in Sports Marketing (2014) with a thesis on Customer Relationship Management and Branding in Football, and Executive MBA (Romanian-Canadian MBA, class of 2021), is a teaching assistant the Faculty of Business Administration, in foreign languages (FABIZ), where he delivers lectures on Digital Business, Communication and Media, and Customer Relationship Management, in German and English. Apart from the academic career, Vlad has worked as fellow magazine editor and columnist at “Sport Magazin” (2008-2010), a leading weekly sports magazine in Romania, then at “Economistul” (2011-2016) and “The Market for Ideas” (2017-currently), where he continued to publish articles on the business of sports in the economic press. Passionate follower of all that can be played with a round or an oval ball and occasional groundhopper having attended football or rugby matches at more than 200 stadiums worldwide. Published 40+ articles on the business of sports, his research areas including sports marketing, sports management, sports economics, and sports branding.

Cristian Gheorghe was for almost 6 years (2006-2012) Executive Manager at FC Sportul Studențesc, and since June 2012 he has been Country Sales Manager at Sport Evolution Group (SEG), the market leader in sports marketing in Romania. Starting with 2020, he is the Managing Director of eAd Sport Promotions, division of the media rights holder for Liga 1. He is the initiator of Sports Business Academy, the first sports marketing school in the Bucharest University of Economic Studies, dedicated to sports professionals and lovers, and is co-author of the Sports Marketing textbook. For his unique sports projects, he was included in “Introduction to Marketing” by Philip Kotler and Gary Armstrong.

Octavian-Dragomir Jora, Associate Professor, Ph.D., Habil., at the Bucharest University of Economic Studies, where he has cultivated and developed interests in comparative economic systems, critical/creative thinking, and geo-politics/geo-economics of cultures and civilisations. Octavian is involved in epistemic communities – i.e., board member of the Romanian Economic Society; the Research Center in International Business and Economics; the Social Science and Humanities Research Association etc. He is (co-)author of numerous scientific works (100+ titles), as well as of journalistic op-eds, essays, pamphlets (1000+ titles), his works being distinguished over time with plentiful and prestigious scholarly and mass-media awards. Octavian is editor-in-chief of the Œconomica journal, founder editor of The Market for Ideas pop-science magazine and hosts the Invest in Romania! TV show, broadcasted by the Romanian public television via TVR International and, last but not least, he is a passionate football fan, writer and editor, giving students and young talents the possibility to write and to publish their ideas on matters concerning the economics of sports, apart from doing this himself as well.

Publication Opportunities:

The conference is organized by Society for Business Excellence and UNESCO Department for Business Administration on the 24-24 of March 2022 at The Bucharest University of Economic Studies, Faculty of Business Administration in Foreign Languages (FABIZ) in partnership with the Romanian Academy, the University of Bucharest and the Sapienza University from Rome, Italy. The papers accepted at ICBE 2022 will be published in the conference proceedings, subject to author registration, payment and presentation. The papers will be published in the Conference Proceedings volume under the German Publishing House De Gruyter and they will be indexed in EBSCO, Proquest, ExLibris, OCLC, Google Scholar, Microsoft Academic, CELDES, CNPIE, Naviga, and will be submitted to Thomson Reuters ISI Web of Science (WOS) Conference Proceedings Citation Index (https://content.sciendo.com/view/journals/picbe/picbe-overview.xml

In addition, the best three Papers (Best paper Award Management&Marketing) will be published in the international journal Management & Marketing. Challenges for the Knowledge Society by De Gruyter Open, indexed in Web of Science- Emerging Sources Citation Index (ESCI), Scopus, Proquest, Cabell’s Directory and more than 20 other international databases (www.degruyter.com/view/j/mmcks).

At the final ceremony, based on a selection of the international committee, there will be granted three Best Paper Awards Management&Marketing (https://content.sciendo.com/view/journals/mmcks/mmcks-overview.xml, indexed in Web of Science) and two Excellence Awards.
