The 17th International Conference on Business Excellence
Rethinking business: Sustainable leadership in a VUCA world
23 – 25 March 2023
“The best way to predict the future is to create it.” – Abraham Lincoln
Mini Track Chair:
Greening the economy has become a desideratum not just in EU member states, but worldwide. The economy is adapting to these requirements and it imprints new consumption patterns to reduce the carbon footprint, environmental protection, green finance, renewable energy, just to mention a few. In European countries, numerous changes have occurred after the Paris Agreement of 2015 and the European Green Deal of 2019.
Concomitantly, virtual environments or metaverses are the next level in digitalization. We are currently witnessing major transformations in industry, business, learning & education, healthcare, governance, leisure and entertainment with the advent and development of several technologies, such as: artificial intelligence, immersive technology (virtual reality, augmented reality), 3D virtual environments, IoT, big data analytics, digital twins, 5G, machine learning, blockchain, cloud and edge computing, robotics, just to name a few.
Businesses have partially or totally moved in the online environment, and this process has been accelerated by the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic. They now have to explore and benefit from the opportunities provided by the online environment. Finance and banking companies have also started to develop their online presence, whereas crowdfunding and cryptocurrencies have also gained ground as alternatives to the status-quo. Manufacturing has started to transition towards Industry 4.0, too, by including: IIoT, robotics, 3D printing, AI, cloud computing, and big data in their processes.
