Intelligence about competition is far from new. From a historical perspective, successful business has always incorporated research and information on competitors while exploiting their vulnerabilities and picking up useful ideas. In addition, in the last decades, competitive intelligence has been extensively professionalized being acknowledged as a crucial element when building a sustainable business strategy. The panel aims to provide a comprehensive picture on the most recent intelligence-driven practices focusing on competitors, technology, sales, marketing, pricing and other organizational key areas. In particular, it looks into the components of an intelligence system, its processes, and variables. Both empirical and theoretical papers are expected outlining existing models and best practices in developing sustainable intelligence competitive systems at an organizational and national scale.

Mireille Radoi – Currently professor at Bucharest University of Economic Studies in Bucharest, UNESCO Department, FABIZ (Faculty for Business Administration in Foreign Languages).

Starting in 2010, Ph D. Mireille Radoi has been the General Director of the Central University Library “Carol I”, the most important institute of its kind in Romania, under the administration of the Education Ministry. Being the first woman to occupy the position, since it was founded in 1891. Engaged in myriard of research projects, LIB2LIFE being utmost remarkable; a project aiming the “Revival of Libraries and Cultural Heritage through Advanced Technology”.

Throughout the professional career, held decision-making positions in the public and private sector: expert for the Romanian Parliament; business development manager at Saatchi & Saatchi and at Computas Romania; professor at the National Defence College; director of the National Cyber Security Incident Response Centre (CERT-RO); advisor to the Ministry of Communications and Information Societies; Romanian representative in the European Council of the Agency for Network and Information Security (ENISA).

  • President of „Carol I” Foundation and creator of Strada de C’Arte, the most relevant outdoor festival of the 7 arts, which reached the X-th edition this year.
  • Founder and host of Club RO, a cross disciplinary, GOV-NGO and only think tank and dialogue platform with no political association, successfully running for 10 years now.
  • Author, co-author and contributor to more than 60 books.
  • Her expertise covers knowledge in: management, intercultural communication, negotiation
  • and decision making strategies.
  • She was keynote speaker at several relevant conferences, most prestigious being: The International Federation of Library Associations and Institutions (IFLA) in 2015, 2016 and 2019, Annual Convention Of The International Studies Association (ISA) in 2017 and UNESCO GUNiHumanities in 2018.
  • Licenced in psycho-sociology and holding a Ph. D in political science.
  • University of California San Diego awarded a double headed scholarship: FULBRIGHT & the US State Department, on US National Security Policymaking After 9/11.
  • Awarded the Certificate by BUNDESNACHRICHTENDIENST.
  • Awarded the Canadian Security Intelligence Service Certificate Headquarters in Ottawa Canada.
  • Awarded the Direction Générale de la Sécurité Extérieure.
  • Her professional skills address a complex range of topics, from Knowledge Management and Social Comprehension to Strategic Thinking and Effective Operation.

Irena Chiru is a professor of intelligence studies and the director of the Higher Council for Doctoral Studies within “Mihai Viteazul” National Intelligence Academy, Romania. In the recent years, her main research interests have been focusing on bridging the theory and practice of intelligence by developing multiple joint research projects on ardent security topics, including the social triggers and effects of disinformation and misinformation. She is also the chair of the International Association for Intelligence Education – European Chapter. From this position, she acts as a strong advocate of building the intelligence profession by sharing knowledge, enabling and encouraging networking and dialogue, and building partnerships around the world.

The conference is organized by Society for Business Excellence and Faculty of Business Administration in Foreign Languages on the 23-25 of March 2023 at The Bucharest University of Economic Studies, Faculty of Business Administration in Foreign Languages (FABIZ) in partnership with the Romanian Academy, the University of Bucharest and the Sapienza University from Rome, Italy. The papers accepted at ICBE 2023 will be published in the conference proceedings, subject to author registration, payment and presentation. The papers will be published in the Conference Proceedings volume under the German Publishing House De Gruyter and they will be indexed in EBSCO, Proquest, ExLibris, OCLC, Google Scholar, Microsoft Academic, CELDES, CNPIE, Naviga, and will be submitted to Thomson Reuters ISI Web of Science (WOS) Conference Proceedings Citation Index (

At the final ceremony, based on a selection of the international committee, there will be granted three Best Paper Awards Management&Marketing (, indexed in Web of Science) and two Excellence Awards.
