The current competitive and dynamic business environment, facing diverse challenges due mostly to the technological and social innovations there is a need to design and develop new innovative and digital business models that promote excellence and sustainability 4.0. It becomes essential to start-up creative and innovative business designed such as to create and develop more opportunities for improvement in terms of sustainability, excellence and competitiveness preparing the road towards the 4 online th industrial revolution both on the micro, mezzo and macro levels. In order to face the pressing economic, social, cultural and environmental challenges, local organizations and governments need to undertake integrated efforts to achieve excellence and sustainability 4.0. This implies to apply a broader vision of innovative business in terms of open innovation based mostly on platforms of interactive co-operation designed such as to support the co-creation, co-working and co-evolution of different partners selected from the panel of smart and agile business champions. In order to achieve excellence & sustainability 4.0, innovative and creative incubators, accelerators and clusters need to have the key competence that will allow them to harmonize the complex economic, environment and social issues concerning 4.0 innovative businesses. Smart organizations and communities such as smart cities, creative & innovative regional corridors and clusters have to support mostly the sustainable innovative businesses that focus on complex issues such as: green business, low-carbon innovations, creative and cultural industries, cultural heritage and natural resources preservation. We need to find innovative, feasible and acceptable solutions to deal with the new challenges associated to economic, technological, scientific, social, cultural and environmental issues. Excellence and sustainability 4.0 ask for co-creation by involving prosumers who will be more powerful, well informed and much better prepared to face new challenges.

The main topics covered by this call for papers are related but not limited to:

  • Knowledge, Innovation and Intellectual Capital Management as drivers of sustainability 4.0

  • Co-creation of prosumers and its impacts

  • Internet of Things (IoT) and its impact on supply chain management

Francesco Bellini trained as an economist (Degree in Economics, MAs in Economics and Management of Technological Change, PhD in Innovation Management). He is professor of Finance at the International Telematic University UNINETTUNO and Technology Management research fellow at the Department of Management of University of Rome La Sapienza. He leads the Research & Innovation Lab in Eurokleis and he is scientific consultant for a number of private and public bodies. His professional and academic carrier developed at the crossroad between innovation management and finance. He has an extensive experience in project management and coordination, business and financial modelling of innovation and impact assessment. During his professional carrier he worked in more than 30 EC funded projects coordinating 4 of them. He is author of more than 70 papers and books.

Marta-Christina SUCIU is Professor, PhD at Bucharest University of Economic Studies (ASE), Economics and Economic Policies Department since 1993. Since April 2016 she is also a vice-dean in charge with research-development-innovation and international relations at the Faculty for Theoretical and Applied Economics, ASE. She has an extensive experience in higher education and research (coordinator or director for 8 nation research projects; member of 30 research teams projects), academic publishing (25 books and over 150 published papers in national and international peer-reviewed journals and proceedings); key note speaker, chair, member of the scientific committees for international conferences, reviewer; visiting professor at MIT University, Cairo, Egypt (February-March 2006); member of national and international organizations such as: EARLI (European Association for Research on Learning and Instruction), RSA (Regional Studies Association), ERSA (European Regional Studies Association); ICCA(Intellectual Capital Accreditation Association), CRISFT, Romanian Academy, AOSR (Academia Oamenilor de Stiinta din Romania), ARSR (Asociatia Romana de Studii Regionale) SBE; CREE (Centrul Roman de Educatie Economica). She graduated numerous training programs in the field of economics education, such as “Training of Trainers”, “Training of Writers” organized by NCEE (National Council on Economic Education), United States of America (1997-1998); London School of Economics and Political Sciences-Complexity Group (2007, 2008, 2011), Durham University (1996)-United Kingdom etc.

Publication Opportunities:

The conference is organized by Society for Business Excellence and UNESCO Department for Business Administration on the 19-21 of March 2020 at The Bucharest University of Economic Studies, Faculty of Business Administration in Foreign Languages (FABIZ) in partnership with the Romanian Academy, the University of Bucharest and the Sapienza University from Rome, Italy. The papers accepted at ICBE 2020 will be published in the conference proceedings, subject to author registration, payment and presentation. The papers will be published in the Conference Proceedings volume under the German Publishing House De Gruyter and they will be indexed in EBSCO, Proquest, ExLibris, OCLC, Google Scholar, Microsoft Academic, CELDES, CNPIE, Naviga, and will be submitted to Thomson Reuters ISI Web of Science (WOS) Conference Proceedings Citation Index (
