Mini-Tracks

21 – 23 March 2024

“The best way to predict the future is to create it.” – Abraham Lincoln

Mini Track Chair:

  • Valentina Mihaela Ghinea, The Bucharest University of Economic Studies, Romania

  • Luis Miguel Ciravegna Fonseca, Instituto Superior de Engenharia, Portugal

Few fields are not concerned with an increase in the complexity of today’s problems and systems. Most systems today include technology controlled by software because of the range of capability it can provide, yet software introduces complexity of new types as it solves familiar types of complexity. While research into complexity is proceeding in multiple fields, awareness of the advances made and their application to other fields is lagging.

This track is seeking papers related to both broad and specific work in:

  • Complexity research

  • Complexity applications within business-related or other fields

  • Economic and legal implications of complexity
  • Complexity management

  • Complexity and risk

  • Measurement of complexity

  • Methods for reducing complexity

  • Other related topics

Academic researchers, doctoral students, industrial practitioners, and government business or management employees are especially encouraged to submit papers on Business Excellence and Complexity.
